1
Brainstorm your ideas. Ask yourself what color your belt should be, what material it should be made of and what additional touches you want. If you want a belt that's simple and masculine then it should be wide and plain, probably in black or dark brown leather. If you want something a little more decorative then feel free to add studs, dull spikes, rings or any other ornamentation.

Take your measurements. Measure your waist and be sure that you have the tape measure where your belt will normally rest. Write down the measurement as exactly as you can. If necessary, have someone help you.

Sketch out your blueprint. Even if you aren't particularly skilled as an artist, try to be as detailed as possible. Mark what material the belt should be made of as well as how many holes it should have in case your waist size changes over time. Also mark the length the belt should be as well as the height you want it to be. Once you've filled in all the necessary details, you have your design.
