You can configure the boot screen in Windows XP

The Windows XP operating system allows for many different user configurations. From the desktop icon theme to system colors, there are countless options for customizing XP to better fit your likes. If you don't want the graphical Windows screen to boot when you start your system, you can change it into a text-based startup screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and then click "Run." Type "msconfig" into the box and click "OK." This launches the System Configuration Utility.

    • 2

Click on the "BOOT.INI" tab. Check the box next to "/NOGUIBOOT" and click "OK."

    • 3

Restart your computer, and it now boots the system BOIS text, which then changes to a blank screen, as opposed to the graphic XP screen.
