Using any number of free programs, you can copy a DVD to your hard drive or to additional DVDs. Copying your DVDs will prevent the originals from getting damaged or ensuring that you have backups in case you lose the original. All of the following programs have been tested to guarantee 100% compatibility with Windows Vista.

  1. Easy DVD Clone

    • 1

      Download Easy DVD Clone from the "Resources" link below. Save the file to your desktop. Double click the EXE file to begin the installation.

      Click "Next". Click "I Agree." to accept the terms of use. Click "Next" to install the program to the default drive (C:) of installation (you can manually select where you want to install the file to be clicking the "Browse" button).

      Continue clicking "Next" until you reach the end of the installation. Place a check next to "Launch this program." and click "Finish". The installer will close and the program will open.

      Insert the DVD that you want to duplicate into your computer's disc drive. In Easy DVD Clone, under the "Target" tab, select "Folder". Click the folder icon to the right to select where you want the DVD files to be stored. Additionally, you can copy the DVD to another DVD by selecting "DVD" under the "Target" tab. After the original DVD is copied to your hard drive (temporarily), you will need to insert a blank DVD to complete the duplication.

      Click the "Start" button to begin duplicating the DVD to the location you chose.

      Download 1Step DVD Copy from the "Resources" link below. Save the file to your desktop. Double click the EXE to begin the installation.

      Click "Next.". Place a check next to the "I accept the terms..." option and click "Install". The program will begin installing.

      Place a check next to the "Run 1Step DVD Copy " option and click "Finish".

      Select one of the following options: Clone DVD Disk (this will copy the DVD to a blank DVD) or Copy DVD to Folder (this will copy the DVD to your hard drive). Both options lead to the same configuration screen.

      Insert the DVD you want to copy. If you chose the "Clone DVD Disk." option, click "Start" to begin the duplication. Once prompted, insert a blank DVD to complete the process. If you chose the second option, select the folder that you want to store the contents of the DVD in. Click "Start" to begin the transfer.
