Decide upon a new name for the S Corporation. Find out if the new business name is available by completing a corporation name search on the South Carolina Secretary of State website at www.scsos.com. To make sure the name is not already trademarked by another business, complete a trademark search on the U.S. Patent and Trademark website at www.uspto.gov as well.

Contact the South Carolina Secretary of State. To change the name of your S Corporation, you must file an Article of Amendment. The form can be accessed on the Secretary of State website at www.scsos.com. There is a fee of $110 for filing a name change.

Fill out the UCE-101-S form available from the Employment Security Commission in South Carolina. The form can be accessed online at www.sces.org, or mailed to:

Change the business name of the S Corporation with the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Fill out the paper form SC-8822 available on the Department of Revenue website at www.sctax.org.
