How to Clean the Tailgate of a Honda Element

Move the Honda Element to a shaded area. Direct sunlight can cause soap and water to evaporate quickly and leave behind water spots.

Mix a small amount of auto shampoo into a bucket of warm water. Follow the directions for the specific brand of auto shampoo you are using to determine the proper amount of shampoo and water to use.

Spray the exterior of the closed tailgate with a hose to wet the surface.

Dip a large, soft sponge into the bucket and wash the tailgate from the top of the Honda Element down.
