How to Open Creative Zen in Winamp
The Creative Zen is one of the most popular personal media players on the market, and Winamp is a great way of organizing your music and storing playlists on the Zen. Winamp was one of the first MP3 players available for computers and has 13 years of experience and customer feedback to build on.

Download WinAmp to your computer from WinAmp's official site. On the top bar of the website, you'll see "WinAmp Player" in the center. Select that link, and the website will check to make sure your computer is running Windows. WinAmp will ask you if you want the free version or the professional version. The main difference is that the professional version allows unlimited transfer of your CDs and will transfer them at a higher quality rate than the free program.
Once you download the program, it will run an Install Wizard automatically to help you load it onto your computer. Simply scroll through the prompts. If you already have WinAmp, make sure you upgrade to the latest version of the software.

Using the USB cable that came with your Zen, plug your Zen into your computer at any USB port. Your computer will probably have a USB port on the front for convenience, but if not, look in the back. There will be a symbol on the cable that you can match to the port. Once your Zen is connected, a screen will appear telling you the Zen is "docked." Go to Creative's site to install any firmware updates that may have been released. You can find the firmware at the Help section of Creative's site.

WinAmp supports the Zen out of the box, so you should see your Zen and your WinAmp sync up automatically. There will be a pop-up window like the Install Wizard to help you sync the two the first time you connect them. After you run the sync window for the first time, in the far left side of the WinAmp window, you should see your Zen in a folder marked "Portables."

If your Zen is not appearing in WinAmp, check for the player under "My Computer". In the "Drives" section, you will see an icon named "MY ZEN". There may also be a "Removable Drive" icon if you have an SD card in your Zen. If you don't see it, plug it in to another computer and see if you can locate it there. If it doesn't appear there, switch USB cables.
