Troubleshoot your stereo system.

The Bose line of audio equipment is top of the line due to the quality of the audio produced. However, if you use a Bose home stereo CD changer, you can occasionally run into some issues with the device. Typically, this is only due to exposure from outside dust and debris, but whatever the reason, you can typically correct the problem on your own without taking it into a technician.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove all of the CDs from the Bose home stereo CD changer. You must remove the discs before you can clean the inside of the changer.

    • 2

Inspect the bottom side of the CDs. Use a damp cloth to clean CDs that have dirt or fingerprints on them. The debris stuck to the CDs clog up the inside of the CD player and can cover the Bose CD player's lens and laser.

    • 3

Spray a few shots of compressed air into the Bose home stereo CD changer to clean off any particles stuck to the lens and laser.

    • 4

Check the cable connection between the receiver and the speakers. If the cables aren't completely connected into both devices, you will lose audio quality.

    • 5

Lower the volume of your Bose stereo system if you can hear crackling over the speakers. This is the beginning of damage to the speakers and cannot be corrected. Once the crackling becomes apparent, you need to replace the speakers.
