1
Measure your closet carefully. Check that your walls are square and your floors level. Use a pencil and level to mark any adjustments before you start hanging hardware. Mark the spacing and position of the long horizontal track and then the vertical shelf supporting standards on the walls before you proceed.
-
2
Hang the long horizontal track of your Closetmaid system in a straight and level line as close to the ceiling as possible. Screw directly into the wood header of the wall at the ceiling line if you are able, with 1-inch wood screws. Install the track lower, if necessary, using toggle bolts for drywall or wood screws for stud installation.

Mount the vertical standards or shelf tracks for your Closetmaid system. Install into studs wherever possible, using wood screws. Thread bolts through the standard, and reattach the toggle before attaching to the track if you are installing your closet organizer into drywall. Repeat for your vertical shelf supports.

4
Attach shelf brackets, sliding them into the slots on the standards.
-
5
Measure and mark each shelf, rod and hanging track. Cut with a hacksaw to the desired size. Cap the cut metal rods and shelves with the appropriate Closetmaid caps.

6
Hang the shelves and rods on the supports.
