You should never dump grease down the kitchen sink. However, if you use pots and pans to fry food in, you may end up with a sink full of oil, even though you disposed of the grease properly. Grease is stubborn and can cause clogs, so while you are cleaning your sink, you should take preventative measures to break up any blockage that the oil may have caused. Things You'll Need

  • Sink plug
  • Grease-fighting dish soap
  • Scrubber sponge
  • Very warm water
  • Eucalyptus oil
  • Clean, dry towel

      Put the sink plug into the sink.

      Put a generous amount of grease-fighting dish soap on a scrubber sponge. Scrub your entire sink with the dish soap.

      Fill your sink with very hot water. Add some extra dish soap to the water as the sink fills up. Also, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the water, which will clean out any clogs that the grease may have caused. Allow the water to penetrate the grease for approximately 20 minutes.

      Remove the sink plug, and scrub the sink with a scrubber sponge. Rinse the sink with warm water, and wipe it out with a clean, dry towel.
