How to Clean a Glass & Brass Chandelier
A chandelier can change the entire look of a room, providing an elegant, attractive centerpiece that draws the eye to this gorgeous piece upon entering a room. Chandeliers can be made from a variety of items, while a glass and brass combination is an attractive, affordable choice. The glass prisms reflect light well, while the subtle reflection of the brass complements the glass. To keep the chandelier clean, crisp, and reflecting light at its best, clean it regularly. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
-
1
Place an old blanket under the chandelier to help safely catch any prisms that may fall when taking down the chandelier.
-
2
Remove the chandelier carefully if possible. Remove it gently from its secured location, and place it on top of the blanket.
-
-
3
Fill a dish with warm water and dish soap. The dish soap will safely clean the glass prisms while also drying without streaks or film.
-
4
Dip a soft cleaning cloth into the soapy water, wring out the cloth, and remove the glass prisms one by one and clean. Wipe over both sides of the prism, hold up to the light to make sure you have removed all residue, and place each prism onto a towel to dry. Repeat until you have cleaned all glass prisms.
-
5
Wipe down the brass structure of the chandelier as the glass prisms are drying. Use a soft cloth and buff in small circular motions. No cleaner or polish is required to clean the brass.
-
6
Place the glass prisms back onto the brass structure once they have dried, and hang the chandelier back onto its secured location.

Tips & Warnings
If you are unable to remove the chandelier from its location, leave the chandelier in place, and carefully clean glass prisms and brass parts one at a time, following the same cleaning routine mentioned above. Remember to keep a blanket under the chandelier to catch any prisms that may fall off.
Clean the chandelier once per year or as needed to keep buildup off of the glass and brass.
