Make your own sausages with a vertical sausage stuffer.

Never wonder what went into your sausages and hot dogs again by making your own from ingredients of your choosing. A vertical sausage stuffer eases the process of filling the casings with your ground sausage mix. Choose any meats and spices you desire for your sausage: beef, venison, pork or chicken. With the crank of a handle, the meat mixture of your choice gets forced through a funnel and into the casings, ready for tying off and boiling or grilling. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Vertical sausage stuffer
  • Sausage mix
  • Spatula
  • Sausage casings
  • Scissors
  • Butcher's twine

Instructions

    • 1

      Wash all parts and pieces with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly before use.

      Screw the funnel to the front of the vertical sausage stuffer.

    • 3

      Lift the piston over the food hopper up and tilt the hopper back to fill.

    • 4

      Add the sausage mix to the food hopper with a spatula to fill it to the top.

    • 5

      Reset the hopper into the vertical position and release the piston.

    • 6

      Tie one end of a sausage casing closed with butcher's twine and slip it over the funnel.

    • 7

      Insert the crank into the lower axle and turn clockwise to slowly push the sausage into the casing. Hold the casing with your other hand as you turn.

    • 8

      Stop turning once one inch remains empty of the casing.

    • 9

      Remove the stuffed sausage and tie off the open end with butcher's twine.

    • 10

      Repeat stuffing sausages until you have used all of your sausage mix.
