How to Make a Custom Shaped Mirror
Mirrors are great additions to any room. They give the appearance of additional room and open space. But fitting a mirror into a room isn't always as easy as it might seem. Spaces can be odd sizes or shapes, or maybe your decor simply does not match the mirrors you find in stores. If this is the case, you can create a custom shaped mirror to suit your taste.
Things You'll Need
- Glass cutter
- Sheet of glass
- Silver paint designed for mirroring
- Carpet or newspaper
- Grease pencil
- Saw horses
- Protective goggles

Purchase a glass cutter and a sheet of 1/4-inch-thick clear glass.

Set up the two saw horses on your covered area and place your sheet of glass centered on top. Be sure the area is completely flat

Trace or draw your custom shape using the grease pencil on your glass. Arrange the saw horses to be under the shape.

Put on your safety goggles and begin to cut out your shape. Cut away from your body with your glass cutter. Cut completely around your traced or drawn area. Carefully clean the area afterward.

Leave your shape on the saw horses. Paint two coats of silver paint on the same side of your glass and allow to dry.

Choose a glass cutter that suits your project. Seek out a professional to help you decide on the proper tool for the job.
If your surface is not even, the glass may splinter and break. Sweep the area very carefully before and after the project.
