Instructions

    • 1

Choose a plastic bottle with a neck that is big enough to fit one of your fingers.

    • 2

Wash the bottle clean in warm, soapy water then rinse it in cold water. Use a cloth to wipe the neck dry.

    • 3

Use a sharp utility knife, or a knife with serrated edges, to cut the neck off the bottle. This is the area used to screw the bottle cap onto the bottle.

    • 4

Sand the cut edge of the ring with a sanding sponge until it is smooth.

    • 5

Wash the finished ring clean of dust in soapy water. Rinse it in clean water then dry it with a cloth.

    • 6

Cut colored or patterned scrapbooking paper to the size of the ring. Apply a thin layer of glue to the inside of the plastic ring. Insert the paper, patterned side up, so it shows through the plastic. Apply any additional decoration (glue-on gems, etc.) to the exterior of the ring.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try heating the blade of the knife over a fire to simplify the process of cutting the bottle.
