      Remove the screws securing the hard drive cover, remove the cover, and set the screws and cover aside. Make certain to keep the screws with the cover, as they may not be interchangeable with the other screws in this procedure.

      Remove the screws that attach the hard drive to the computer.

      Lift the hard drive out of the computer using the tab attached to it.

      Remove the four screws securing the hard drive to the enclosure, then remove the enclosure.

      Read the label on the hard drive. It will have the manufacturer, storage capacity, and model (SATA or IDE) of your hard drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be certain to touch something metal (a doorknob, for example) before coming in contact with the inside of your computer. A burst of static electricity could be harmful to the components inside.
