How to Configure Your AGP Video Card to Share RAM

Sharing RAM (random access memory) between your AGP video card and your system memory can help to improve the performance of your system by creating a communal "pot" of memory from which the machine can draw in times of need. This can be configured by altering a BIOS setting in your computer. BIOS is the lower-level system that manages hardware settings of this type.

Instructions

    • 1

      Restart your computer.

    • 2

Press the key displayed during the startup messages to enter BIOS. This is normally one of the "F" keys.

    • 3

Use the arrow keys to scroll to the "Advanced Chipset" menu and press "Enter."

    • 4

Scroll to the "Video RAM Cacheable" setting and press "Enter."

    • 5

Select "Yes," press "Enter," press "Esc," and press "Y" to exit and save changes.
