How to Edit a Photoshop Action

Use actions to edit your photos more efficiently.

Photoshop is a photo editing application developed by Abobe. It has a feature called "Actions," which allows you to record a series of commands that can be saved for use at a later time. Actions can be useful if you have tasks you complete on a regular basis. They allow you to record your task and later complete it with little effort, saving you time. It you have an existing action that you need to alter in some way, you also have the option to rearrange, delete, re-record or add to your action.

Instructions

Add Commands to an Action

1. Open Photoshop. Ensure the Actions panel is displayed by clicking "Window" > "Actions."

2. Click the name of the action you wish to edit. This will allow you to add commands to the end of the action. If you wish to insert a command somewhere in the middle of the action, select a single command. This will allow you to insert a new command directly after the one selected.

3. Click the "Record" button at the bottom of the actions panel.

4. Perform the new command as required.

5. Click the "Stop" button when you have finished recording the new command.

Other Options

1. Drag a command to the Trash icon to delete it from an action.

2. Drag commands within an action to change the order of the commands. A highlighted line will appear in the new location, displaying where the command will be dropped.

3. Highlight an action and select "Record Again" from the Actions Panel menu to re-record the entire action. The Actions Panel Menu is located in the top right corner of the actions panel.

4. Double click a single command to edit its values. In the command's dialog box, change the values and then click "OK."
