How to Put Garlands on a Christmas Tree and Choose a Color
Garlands add glitz to a Christmas tree. You can coordinate the ornaments and garland colors to make your tree look uniform. Alternatively, you could mix tree decorations for an eclectic look. Tree garlands can vary from colored wooden beads to strings of wide aluminum strands. Metallic-finished garlands add even more shimmer to Christmas tree lights. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the lights on the tree first. Be sure not to add lights to the branch tips only. Tuck some lights inside the tree branches to give your tree a three-dimensional look.
-
2
Choose a garland that matches the colors of your Christmas ornaments. For example, if your ornaments are mainly green, then select a green garland. If your ornaments differ in color, use multicolored garlands.

3
Hang a beaded garland on the tree starting at the top. Tuck the end of the garland under the tree topper.
-
4
Loop the garland around the tree. Tuck the garland over a branch then let the garland drape naturally along the level of branches, draping down to the next level of branches around the tree. Moving around the tree, tuck the garland over the branches and drape. Continue draping down until the entire garland is used.
-
5
Wrap the tinsel garland all around the tree in the same manner, spacing as you go along.
-
6
Add a second tinsel garland starting on the opposite side of the tree. Work it around the tree in the opposite direction. Tuck the end into the tree, camouflaging it in the branches.
-
7
Add your Christmas ornaments. Mix and mingle small, medium and large ornaments for a unified look.
