How to Connect a TV to a DSL Line

Use DSL to connect to the Internet on your TV

Televisions are constantly adding new features and hardware configurations. Some of the newest television allow you to now access the Internet without any additional Internet boxes or service fees. These TVs have a built in WAN port, just like any computer you might use to connect to a DSL connection. Unless you have a TV with a WAN port you can't connect a DSL line to the television.

Things You'll Need

• Television
• DSL router
• Ethernet cable

Instructions

1. Insert the Ethernet cable into one of the numbered Ethernet ports on the back side of the DSL router. Most DSL routers have at least four different Ethernet cable connections.

2. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the WAN port on the back of the television.

3. Power on the DSL router and the television. Select the "Input" option and chose your Internet connection. Some televisions have built in options for accessing sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
