How to Create Your Own Baby Book

How to Create Your Own Baby Book thumbnail
Create your own baby memory book for you and your child to enjoy throughout the years.

Create your own baby book to record all of the milestones and memories you desire, rather than purchasing a pre-made book that may not contain the things you want to concentrate on. For example, you can make a baby book that's all about the pregnancy and birth, your baby's family history or her favorite things. Making your own baby book will also allow you to coordinate your baby's memory book with her nursery decor or another special theme.

Instructions

    • 1

Make the cover for your book. Decorate the cover with items that signify the importance of the book and give a clue as to what's inside. For example, use a picture of the sonogram for a baby book that's all about the pregnancy. Add a title to the book cover, such as "Jonathan's Beginning."

    • 2

Cut paper to the size needed to assemble the book. Use colorful paper or themed paper, such as scrapbook paper. The paper should complement your baby book, not overpower it. Use craft scissors to cut the paper if you want decorative edges instead of straight edges.

    • 3

Bind the book by using a thin line of glue or double-sided tape in between the inner edge of each page. Using too much glue can ruin the pages or make the book look sloppy.

    • 4

Decorate each page. Include a picture or two by gluing them to colorful paper to create a mat, then gluing it to the page. Write a message to describe what occurred or how you felt during the moments captured in the pictures. For example, write how you felt and what you were thinking when the doctor laid your baby on your chest right after he was born to accompany a picture of you looking at him for the very first time.

Add decorations, stickers or embellishments to the page that go with the pictures. For example, glue the baby's hospital bracelet to the page about her birth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Create numerous books that each concentrate on a small part of your baby's life. For example, one baby book could be designated to the pregnancy, another to the birth and one for each of the first 12 months. This gives you more space to record everything that you and your child can look back over later in his life.

  • Type your thoughts or descriptions and print them out if you don't have legible hand-writing.

  • Use software to create your books on the computer or assemble online albums that the family can enjoy as well.
