Assemble a pen and ink nub

The pen and ink nub is the tip with which you write with a calligraphy or fountain pen. Pens that feature pen and ink nubs are different from traditional ballpoint pens, so the manner in which you assemble them differs as well. Three basic parts are used to assemble a pen and ink nub. The pen holder holds the pen and ink nub, and the reservoir goes over the nub itself to hold ink or paint.

Things You'll Need

• Pen holder
• Pen and ink nub
• Reservoir

Instructions

1. Locate the metal inserts in the pen holder. The metal inserts appear as two open areas into which you insert the pen and ink nub.

2. Find the line that is molded into the pen and ink nub. Push the pen and ink nub into the metal inserts of the pen holder. Push the pen and ink nub into the pen holder until it reaches the line molded into the nub.

3. Insert the reservoir onto the pen and ink nub once the nub is secured within the pen holder.

Tips & Warnings

• Insert the pen and ink nub by holding it at its base.

• Beware of the tip of your pen and ink nub, which can be very sharp. They can also break if not handled properly.
