Any non-abrasive cleaner will work.

Proper maintenance of your slot car track means keeping the track free of dust and debris. In general, you should store your track in a non-dusty area and wipe it down with a rag after each use. If, however, you use oil or any sticky substance you may need to use readily available cleaning products to keep your track clean.

Remove any traces of cyanoacrylate (CA) glue from your track with a CA remover. You can find CA remover at most hobby and radio control stores as well as in some hardware stores.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take your track apart at least once a year and wipe down the connections between the track segments.

  • Avoid exposing your track to excessive moisture, as parts of it can rust.

  • All the major slot car companies sell track cleaning kits which may make the task easier, but are not required.

  • Avoid using any abrasive cleaners as they can damage your track.

  • Do not use steel wool or any similar products on your track as the residue from the steel wool could cause connectivity problems.
