How to Clean a Peg Perego Car Seat

Keeping a baby’s car seat clean is just as important as making sure he’s harnessed safely while on the road. Italian company Peg-Pérego manufactures four different car seats for babies and children who weigh between 4 and 120 pounds. When cleaning Peg-Pérego car seats, the company advises against using harsh chemicals or solvents and chlorine bleach, ironing and tumble-drying fabric parts and padding, and dry cleaning 1.

Cleaning the Primo Viaggio 4-35

Unbuckle the main harness.

Remove the main cushion from the Primo Viaggio 4-35 by undoing the buttons at the top right and left corners near the headrest. If applicable, remove the second seat cushion by lifting it out of the car seat.

Take off the canopy, or hood, by undoing the fasteners toward the top of the car seat’s shell.

Remove the shoulder belts. Turn the car seat upside down and slide the ends of the shoulder belts from the splitter plate in the middle of the seat. Then, slide the belts through the openings in the back part of the car seat.

Take off the seat cover by unlatching the elastic bands under either handle. Then lift the cover off the seat, starting at the crotch strap and ending at the head panel.

Hand-wash the covers and belts that you removed in warm soapy water.

Air dry the materials that you hand-washed.

Clean the plastic parts on the car seat with a damp cloth.

Use a small broom or fabric brush to dust fabric items that you could not remove.

Use a vacuum to clean any parts of the car seat that you could not reach with a washcloth.

Cleaning the Primo Viaggio 30/30

Remove the hood, or canopy, from the Primo Viaggio 30/30. Push the buttons where the hood and the seat connect to remove the latches that secure the two parts together.

Remove the straps connected to the backrest by releasing the harness at the crotch strap buckle and opening the chest clip.

Slide the fabric cover off the headrest, starting at the bottom.

Take off the two main covers from the car seat. Slide the four tabs on the covers from their respective slots on the sides of the seat. Remove the seat belt guides from the sides of the car seat by sliding them upward. Then slip the car seat’s side belts and the central strap through the holes in the fabric covers before lifting the cover off the seat.

Hand-wash the materials that you removed in warm soapy water.

Air dry the wet materials.

Clean the plastic parts on the car seat with a damp cloth.

Dust the fabric attached to the car seat with a small broom or fabric brush

Vacuum any of the corners of the car seat that you could not reach with a washcloth.

Cleaning the Primo Viaggio Convertible

Remove the shoulder belts. Pull up the head panel on the car seat. Slide the ends of the shoulder straps off the metal plate on the back of the car seat. Pull the shoulder belt straps through the front of the seat.

Take off the cover from the head panel. Slide the padded cover off the bottom of the head panel before sliding it off the headrest’s wings. Leave the soft, white inserts in place.

Remove the main car seat cover, starting at the bottom. As you remove the cover, slide the belts that remain on the car seat through the respective holes in the cover.

Clean the car seat with a damp cloth. Make sure the adjuster at the bottom of the seat doesn’t have any crumbs in it.

Wash the covers that you removed by hand with warm, soapy water.

Air dry the materials you washed.

Use a fabric brush to dust the soft, white inserts attached to the car seat.

Cleaning the Viaggio HBB 120

Remove the cover off the Viaggio HBB 120’s seat. Recline the seat’s backrest so it’s flat. Detach the hooks along the bottom of the seat, starting at the rear, near the armrests.

Take off the plastic hook plates that are in pockets under the seat, toward the front and rear.

Remove the cover from the backrest. Take off the plastic cover on the back of the seat by undoing the snaps at the top right and left sides. Remove the elastic bands connected to the cover from the hooks on the back of the seat. Slide the cover off the backrest starting at the bottom.

Take the cover off the headrest. Take off the plastic cover that’s on the back of the seat by undoing the snaps on the right and left sides. Remove the cover’s elastic bands from the hooks on the back of the headrest. Slide the headrest cover off by pulling it upward.

Clean the plastic components on the car seat and those that you removed with a damp cloth. Don’t use water on the latching mechanisms or harnesses.

Wash the fabric covers that you removed by hand.

Air dry the fabric covers.

Use a small brooms to dust the latching mechanisms, harnesses and fabric materials that remain on the car seat.

Tips

Reverse the order in which you removed the various parts of the car seat to reassemble it.
