Little girls love to wear lacy, beaded socks to match their spring and summer dresses. Buying all of these socks at the store can be expensive, and it can be difficult to find socks to coordinate with every dress. Instead of buying ruffled girls' socks, purchase the inexpensive plain socks and embellish them yourself with beaded, crocheted trim.
Make a blanket stitch around the cuff of the sock with an embroidery needle and the crochet thread. To make a blanket stitch, insert the needle from the underside of the cuff and pull it through to the top, and pull the thread tight. Insert the needle to the left of its starting position, and as you pull the needle through the bottom of the cuff and back out, catch it on the loop of thread and pull tightly. Stitch approximately 1/4 inch into the cuff, and space each stitch approximately 1/4 inch apart. Continue around the cuff of your sock, tie off in a knot, and cut the thread.

String approximately 80 small beads onto a skein of crochet thread. Use a beading needle to hold the thread, and slide the beads over the needle and onto the thread. Push the beads down toward the cone or skein.
3
Join your yarn with a slip stitch into the first blanket stitch, using your steel crochet hook in a size 6 or 7. The blanket stitch serves as the starting chain for your crocheted edging. Chain one and single crochet into your starting blanket stitch and every blanket stitch around the cuff. Join with a slip stitch to the starting single crochet.

Make a row of beaded stitches. Chain three, pull up a bead from the base of your thread, and secure it by making a single crochet stitch around it. Chain three more and single crochet into the next single crochet. Repeat this pattern around the cuff of the sock, then join with a slip stitch and fasten off. Repeat entire process with the second sock.
