How to Get Grease Off a Non-Stick Waffle Maker

How to Get Grease Off a Non-Stick Waffle Maker thumbnail
Waffles made with a waffle iron.

Almost all waffle makers are now made with a non-stick coating, which is supposed to make it easy to remove the waffle after the waffle is finished cooking. Unfortunately over time the non-stick coating becomes less effective, and it is necessary to grease your waffle iron before you use it. When you have finished cooking waffles, you must remove the grease before you can clean the iron. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the waffle iron off, unplug it and let it cool before you begin to remove the grease.

    • 2

Wipe away as much grease as you can with paper towels, which will allow you to scoop most of it up, just leaving a thin film of grease behind.

    • 3

Wet a piece of cloth, and add a small drop of grease-fighting dish detergent. Wring out the cloth if you need to. Make sure it is wet but not dripping.

    • 4

Wipe the grease away, which may take a few minutes because you will need to get inside all of the nooks and crannies.

    • 5

Dry the waffle iron with a few more paper towels.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there are any crumbs on the waffle iron, use a small brush to dislodge them.

  • Never wash your waffle iron in a dish pan of water or in a dishwasher as it will ruin your waffle iron.
