How to Change the Belt on a Hoover Elite
Occasionally the belt on the Hoover Elite vacuum cleaner will break or wear out from usage, requiring it to be replaced. The belts for the Hoover Elite vacuum can also be used for other Hoover models like the Encore, Legacy, Runabout and Upright vacuums.The Hoover Elite is a fairly easy vacuum to maintain and replace the belt and vacuum bag. Unplug the Hoover Elite vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet, and detach the height adjustment knob by pulling the knob straight off the lever by hand.

Turn the vacuum over so you are looking at the bottom plate, and press on the release button to unlock the vacuum handle.

Dislodge the release latch on the vacuum roller plate with a screwdriver, and pull the plate off using the screwdriver to pry it off.

Remove the brush roller by pulling it straight out by hand, and take the old belt off the roller if it is still there.

Run the new vacuum belt around the brush roller and the vacuum motor shaft, placing the brush roller back into the slots that hold the roller in place.

Move the roller a couple times to verify it is moving freely, and place the cover plate back on the bottom of the vacuum until it snaps into place.

Turn the vacuum cleaner over, and reattach the height adjustment knob.

Tips & Warnings
While you have the brush roller off the vacuum cleaner, remove any strings or debris wound around the roller.
