How to Re-enable a Disabled BlackBerry

How to Re-enable a Disabled BlackBerry thumbnail
Disabling a BlackBerry prevents it from automatically connecting to network connections.

A disabled BlackBerry phone is one that has the three main connections disabled: mobile network, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You might disable your BlackBerry phone because you don't want your phone to connect to any of the network connections. For example, if you are traveling out of the country and don't want to pay for international roaming charges every time someone sends you a text message, you would disable your BlackBerry. This way you would only incur charges if you wanted to make call and could still view files and previous messages on your phone. Once you're ready to re-enable to your BlackBerry phone, you must do so using the Manage Connections application.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on your BlackBerry phone.

    • 2

Press the menu key to access the applications page.

    • 3

Click "Manage Connections" to open the connections menu. Click "Restore Connections" to place a check mark in the boxes next to Mobile Network, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Exit the application. Your BlackBerry is now re-enabled.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may take a few minutes for each of the network settings to finish configuring.

  • If a connection has been disabled through your mobile provider's network settings, you cannot re-enable them. For example, if your mobile network connection has been disabled for nonpayment, contact customer service to re-enable it.
