How to Preserve Fresh Flowers With Hairspray

Flowers tend to signify something special. Sometimes there is a particular flower or bouquet that you just do not want to let go of because it means so much. There are ways that you can preserve that special bouquet so you can remember it for years to come. You can do this before all of the blooms fall off and the brilliant colors fade with something that most people have around the house.

Things You'll Need

• Utility knife
• Vase
• Ribbon
• Plastic bag or container

Instructions

1. Cut the stems of the flowers on a bias using a sharp utility knife. Scissors can damage the stems.

2. Place the flowers in water until you are ready to preserve them.

3. Begin the preserving process before the flowers start to wither and die. It is important that the color of the flowers has not faded since you will not be able to revive the color.

4. Gather the flowers together and place them in the arrangement that you like. Place them in a vase or even tie a ribbon around them so you are satisfied with how they look.

5. Spray the entire arrangement with aerosol hairspray. Give it a good, even coat but do not drench it.

6. Allow it to dry completely before you wrap it in a plastic bag or place in a container and put it away for safe keeping.
