How to Remove Built Up Shoe Polish From Shoes

Shining your shoes is one of those activities that most men learn at a young age or teach themselves as they grow older. Like shaving or tying a tie, shoe shining is a sign of maturity, or at least adulthood. A nice shoe shine will help you look your best for a date, job interview or just a day at work. Shoe polish will give your shoes a luxurious glow, but build-up and patches of polish can dull them. Keep your shoes smooth and shiny to impress those around you.

Things You'll Need

• Flannel or cotton rags
• Leather shoe cleaner
• Horsehair brush
• Shoe polish

Instructions

1. Spray or pour leather shoe cleaner, depending on the brand, on the rag and scrub your shoes to remove any dirt or polish build-up.

2. Buff your shoes, concentrating on polish build-up, with a horsehair brush. Scrub the build-up to scrape it off.

3. Dip a clean rag into the shoe polish and rub all over the shoes.

4. Use a clean corner of the rag to wipe off any polish build-up.

5. Buff the shoes with a horsehair brush to distribute the polish and remove any patches of polish.
