    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Phillips screwdriver
      • 1

Turn off your Dell Inspiron and remove any power cables that may be connected to it. Set the computer on a table and open it so you can easily access the screen.

      • 2

Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the bezel (plastic screen frame) to the LCD. Four screws are located on the top of the frame above the LCD, while the others are located on the bottom of the frame. On some Inspiron models only two screws are on the bottom of the frame. On other models eight more screws are located on the sides of the screen; remove these if this is the case.

      • 3

Pull the bezel away from the LCD by the corners and gently lower the LCD screen face down on the keyboard. The green inverter board at the bottom of the LCD screen will now be exposed. This thin rectangular backlight inverter is the power source to your computer's LCD screen.

Unplug the LCD connector and motherboard connector plugs from each side of the backlight inverter. They should pop right out.

      • 5

Remove the backlight inverter from the computer by gently prying it off the adhesive at the bottom of the LCD.

      • 6

Replace with the new backlight inverter (available at your Dell retailer or online) and reassemble your Inspiron in the reverse order you took it apart.
