Chinese lucky canes are also known as lucky bamboo or Chinese lucky bamboo although they really are not bamboo at all. Chinese lucky canes are actually Dracaena and it is a member of the lily family. They grow in the rain forests of West Africa and Southeast Asia. Chinese lucky canes only grow about 3 feet tall and have thick canes about the size of your finger. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Keep the Chinese lucky canes in a room with a temperature between 65 and 70 degrees F and indirect sunlight.

      Change the water in the Chinese lucky canes' pot once a week, keeping the water about 1 inch from the base of the canes. Use only fresh rainwater or spring water to water the Chinese lucky canes.

      Fertilize the Chinese lucky canes with lily fertilizer once every three months.

      Prune the plants when the leaves start to fan out too much. Cut them back to the base of the stems.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not place the Chinese lucky canes in direct sunlight or the leaves will yellow.

  • Do not water Chinese lucky canes with tap water as it may contain too much salt or fluoride.
