How to Tell How Old a Buescher Aristocrat Saxophone Is?

The Buescher Aristocrat is an important saxophone. Simon Rascher, the famous classical saxophonist, played a Buescher. It is fairly easy to figure out how old a saxophone is by tracing the serial number.

Things You'll Need

• Saxophone
• Internet access
• Buescher serial number chart

Instructions

1. Find the serial number on the saxophone. The serial number is often hard to find. A common place is right on the back by the thumb rest. For this type of saxophone it should be a six-digit number.

2. Access the Internet. Visit Lars Kirmser's website (see References), which includes the definitive list of serial numbers.

3. Find your serial number on the chart. The serial numbers are on the left side of the chart and the years of manufacture are on the right side. You now know how old your saxophone is.
