DIY: Phone Bling

Plain cellphones are boring to some.

Cell phones are almost an accessory to your wardrobe, as they are usually carried everywhere you go. On top of showing off the latest and greatest features on their new phones, many cell phone users enjoy flashing a bit of bling on their devices. You can add bling to your phone with a kit, but it is easy enough (and cheaper) to do it yourself with a few supplies from your local craft store. To begin "blinging out" your phone, you need to learn how to adhere the decorations to the surface of your phone's case or shell.

Things You'll Need

• Fine grit sandpaper
• Cotton swab
• Rubbing alcohol
• Clear rhinestone glue
• Tweezers
• Hot fix rhinestones (no foil on the back)

Instructions

1. Gently sand the area of your phone where you want to add some bling. Do not sand any area outside of the portion to be covered. Also, don't sand the screen, as the sanded surfaces will become dull.

2. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and rub it over the appropriate area to cleanse it. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

3. Apply your rhinestone glue in a thin layer to the area where you're working.

4. Pick up the rhinestones individually with tweezers and push them into place on the phone.

5. Allow your phone to dry, according to the glue manufacturer's instructions, before touching it.
