Instructions

    • 1

Gather small sections of fabric around clothespin and rotate fabric, creating pleats, for a spiral effect.

    • 2

Wrap a section of garment around marbles and place rubber bands around marbles for a more mottled effect. Repeat as desired.

    • 3

Gather garment into a tight, flat bundle. Place rubber bands around sections of fabric, according to desired finished design.

    • 4

      Put on rubber gloves.

    • 5

Prepare dye according to manufacturer's instructions. If desired, stir salt in mixture to deepen color.

    • 6

Place garment in mixture and submerge completely. Remove garment when the color is slightly darker than desired color. Watch garment carefully, as this process can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on fabric and dye.

    • 7

Remove garment from mixture and rinse according to dye manufacturer's instructions. Remove rubber bands from garment.

    • 8

Wash garment alone in washing machine. Wring dry in an old towel. Line dry or machine dry garment on coolest setting.
