How to Watch an SRT File With Media Player Classic

Media Player Classic is a free video player that lets you watch movies on your computer. SRT files are subtitle files that you can watch in conjunction with a video file so that you can get text translations of foreign dialogue in a movie. Load an SRT file with Media Player Classic once it begins playing a video so that you can see the scrolling subtitles.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install Media Player classic if you haven't done so already. See Resources for a link to a site where you can download it for free.

    • 2

Open Media Player Classic. Click "File" and then "Open File." Double-click on the video you want to watch in the browse window that appears. The video will begin playing.

    • 3

Click "File" again. Select "Load subtitle" this time. Double-click on the SRT file for the video you're watching. It should be in the same folder as the video. The subtitles should now appear.
