MicroSD cards transport data from your PC to your Nintendo DS memory card.

Nintendo DS Lite memory cards, also known as "flash cards" or "homebrew cartridges," allow you to download user-created and amateur software from the Internet for use on your Nintendo DS or DS Lite. Using a memory card such as M3 DS Real, Action Replay DS Media Edition or NinjaPass, you can transform your Nintendo DS Lite into a media player, a personal organizer, a file storage device or anything else the homebrew community dreams up an app for. Installing and using memory cards for Nintendo DS Lite is a simple procedure.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your MicroSD card to your computer using an SD card reader or slot.

    • 2

Format your MicroSD card by right-clicking on the device within "Windows Explorer" and selecting "Format." Choose "FAT32" as the filing system and click "Ok."

    • 3

Install the operating software for your memory card onto the MicroSD card. This software can be found on the CD enclosed with your memory card or on the manufacturer's website.

    • 4

Download Nintendo DS homebrew applications and games for use on your memory card. Some memory cards come packaged with sample homebrew applications; two sites are provided in the "Resources" section to help you build your collection.

    • 5

Unzip your downloaded homebrew apps and transfer to the root directory of your MicroSD card. Place homebrew game ROMs in a folder called "NDS" on the card.

    • 6

Right-click on your MicroSD card within "Windows Explorer" and select "Eject." Remove your card and insert into the top slot of your Nintendo DS memory card.

    • 7

Insert your Nintendo DS memory card into the top slot of your Nintendo DS. Turn the system on and select your memory card from the system's main menu.

    • 8

Browse your memory card's menu to select the software you wish to run. Select items by scrolling with the console's D-pad and confirming your choice with the "A" button, or use the system's stylus to tap the software you wish to run.

    • 9

Turn off your Nintendo DS when you have finished using your downloaded software. The memory card can now be safely removed from the console, allowing you to manage and add to your software collection.
