How to Make Candy Kiss Roses

How to Make Candy Kiss Roses thumbnail
Candy Kiss roses are elegant and easy to make.

Chocolate candy Kiss roses make beautiful party favors, as well as elegant, yet inexpensive, gifts for someone special. A bouquet of these "rosebud" stems can grace a holiday table for an attractive centerpiece or brighten up a corner table. All of the supplies used for this project are readily available in supermarkets, craft stores and dollar stores. Children 8 years old and up will enjoy making these with you as a special craft activity.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Use two chocolate Kisses for each rosebud stem. It is not necessary to unwrap them. Place a drop of hot glue on the center of the bottom of one candy Kiss. Quickly press the bottom of the other Kiss onto the drop of glue. Hold the candies together for a moment to allow them to adhere.

    • 2

Cut the cellophane into two pieces measuring 6 inches square. Overlap the two squares of cellophane and wrap the candy by placing the tip of one side in the center of the squares, then pulling the rest of the plastic down and around the rest of the candy. Secure the end of the cellophane with an elastic band snugly against the candy on the other side. The last bit of cellophane may look like a short "tail" extending from the rubber band.

    • 3

Place a skewer's pointed tip into the candy alongside the cellophane "tail." If this proves difficult (as it may with wooden skewers), remove the elastic band, open the cellophane, put the skewer in and then rewrap the candy with the elastic band, securing the cellophane around the skewer.

    • 4

Use green floral tape to wind around the skewer just below the candy. Continue to wind around the "tail" of the cellophane, fastening it tightly to the skewer "stem."

    • 5

Insert an artificial leaf by placing the stem of the leaf against the skewer and continuing to wind the floral tape along the length of the skewer until you reach the end.

Tips & Warnings

  • Further embellish your candy Kiss roses by placing them in a vase with colored marbles and additional floral greenery. You can affix a card with a special note or a poem for an added touch.
