How to Make Ballerina Tutu Costumes
Ballerina costumes and tutus are popular with most young girls, not only for Halloween, but for everyday dress-ups and play acting as well. Tutus and other ballerina costume items are not hard to find in stores (especially around Halloween), but they can be expensive. In addition to this, it can be hard to find the right size. While tutus may seem complicated, they are actually easy to make. Anybody can make a ballerina tutu costume in a matter of minutes.

1
Cut out a strip of tulle that is 6 inches wide and 24 inches longer than the circumference of the waist. This will form the waistband of the tutu.
-
2
Cut out one 30-inch long, 3-inch wide piece of tulle for every inch of the waistline. For instance, if the waistline is 25 inches, 25 strips of tulle would be required.
-
-
3
Fold one of the strips of tulle in half lengthwise, forming a loop at one end. Place the looped end underneath the middle of the waistband.
-
4
Pull the non-looped ends of the tulle strip through the looped end and pull it tight. Repeat this process with every piece of tulle. Place the tulle pieces right next to each other on the waistband and leave 12 inches free at each end of the waistband.
-
5
Tie the tutu around the waist and pair it with a pink leotard, pink tights and pink slippers. Put the hair in a bun and tie pink ribbons around it.
