How to Stop Auto-Sync for Zune

Like its iPod competitor, the Zune uses a software program to add, delete or transfer music and other media files. Like iTunes, the Zune software lets you automatically synchronize your music library to your Zune. This can pose a problem if you don't want files no longer in your library to be deleted from your Zune. Using your Zune software, you can turn off the auto-sync feature to stop this.

Instructions

      Open the Zune software program. Click on "Settings" in the top-right corner.

      Click "Device" along the top navigation bar. Select "Sync Options" on the left pane.

      Choose the media type you want to stop auto-sync for. You can select music, video, pictures or all.

      Select "Manual Sync" from the list. Click "OK" to save your changes. This stops the Zune from auto-synchronizing your library to your device.
