Speed Up Internet Buffers.

Internet buffers make it possible to watch video files or listen to music files online. Buffers are used by both your computer and the Internet company to download information at the same time you are watching. This way, you can start to watch a video while it continues to download onto your computer or load onto the video player for streaming. There are several ways to speed up buffers so you can spend more time watching and less time waiting.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your computer to be sure you have enough RAM (random access memory) available. You should have at least 30 percent of the RAM on your computer available to make buffers faster. The general rule is that any space you can free up will make your computer run faster.

    • 2

Clear your cache and delete your temporary Internet files, as this will help your buffers move more quickly.

    • 3

Close other programs that might be transferring information from the Internet at the same time you are trying to watch your video, such as chat programs, virus detection programs or update programs.

    • 4

Check your Internet connection. If your connection dies, the buffer will not finish, and it will appear to continue loading even if it isn't. The faster an Internet connection is, the faster buffers will download.

    • 5

Turn off any other computers that are connected to the Internet through the same modem, if possible. Sometimes when multiple computers are using the same connection, the connection slows down, which leads to slower buffering.
