Print on carbonless paper with impact printers

Carbonless is an alternative version of carbon paper. Unlike carbon paper, carbonless paper does not have a surface that is liable to stain surfaces. It contains tiny microbeads that will break and release some ink upon impact. You can use an impact printer, such as a dot matrix or daisy wheel, to print on carbonless paper. It is not compatible with laser or deskjet printers since some force is required to release the ink.

Instructions

    • 1

Open or prepare the document you wish to print. Ensure that the document appears as you wish it and that it is free of errors.

    • 2

Perform a test print with a blank sheet of regular paper. Printing on a blank sheet of paper first will help you determine how to position the carbonless paper in the printer.

    • 3

Place the carbonless paper in the printer tray. Ensure that the side for images is facing the appropriate direction, based on what side the image appeared on your test print. Click the printer icon on the toolbar to print your document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Extended use of carbonless paper could lead to health problems, such as central nervous system depression and chronic fatigue syndrome, according to the University of Florida study in 1997.
