Vampires can quickly drain a foe of cards and life points

The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game offers a wide variety of creatures with special abilities and monstrous effects. Vampires fill a powerful niche in the game as they are a zombie-typed creature and often possess the ability to harm an opponent's deck or rise from their graves each turn. Vampires also have much higher defense than the other zombie-type creatures. A good vampire deck makes use of these special abilities to overrun their opponent with unkillable foes.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose your key vampires. Vampire Lord and Vampire Lady both cause opponents to discard when they are "bitten" through an attack. The Lord has the additional benefit of rising from his grave each turn and coming back to fight for you. Vampire Genesis lets you bury zombie-typed creatures to bring even more vampires into play, and Vampire's Curse comes back stronger each time it is killed.

    • 2

Add your vampire's support spells. Book of Life will let you bring back those creatures, such as Vampire Lady, who do not normally return to life of their own power. The Everliving Underworld Cannon can blast your opponent for 800 damage each time your vampires return to the field.

    • 3

Select traps with the ability to help bring your creatures back to life. Call of the Haunted and Birthright function similarly to Book of Life, reanimating your fallen vampires. Damage Gate can even spawn creatures from your own life loss, thematically perfect for vampire decks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Watch out for traps with the ability to quickly kill off your creatures, such as Mirror Force and Raigeki. Keep some vampires in your hand so you can quickly refill the field if your opponent wipes out your undead forces.
