1
Ask your daughter what she wants her bedroom to look like. Depending on her preferences, she may want a room that goes along with a sports theme such as a favorite basketball, football or baseball team, or one that matches her school colors. Or she may be a super girly girl who wants a room decked out with pink accessories and lace. Maybe she enjoys the garden and wants flowers such as roses, daisies and sunflowers to cover her room. Maybe she prefers polka dots, stripes or geometric shapes as a theme.

Select a color scheme for her bedroom to give the room a sense of unity. A color scheme requires a main color for walls and ceiling. Select one to three colors to use on accessories such as curtains, bedding and wall decorations. Possible color schemes for teen girls include raspberry and black with white, white and purple with silver, mint green and pink with yellow, or just basic black and white. Other choices include hot pink with black, chocolate and white with blue, and lavender with green.

Check out garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets to find inexpensive furniture such as a dresser, chest, table and a desk. A fresh coat of paint will make an old item in good condition look brand new and stylish.

4
Use bedding that complements the color scheme. Teen girl bedding choices include zebra print, polka dots, stripes, daisies and hearts. Brighten up a neutral-colored room with print or solid-colored bedding in a vivid color such as neon blue, hot pink, rich purple or yellow. Toss some decorative pillows on the bed that have fun designs to make her bed cozy.

5
Place a decorative lamp on a bedside table or on top of a dresser. Hot glue a band of colorful lace or ribbon around the brim of a lampshade.
-
6
Add accessories to the room that reflect your daughter's personality. Set glass bowls on a shelf and fill with shimmery beads or artificial flowers. Fill a clear glass vase with white or colored sand and a candle for soft lighting. Display quirky knickknacks on a shelf. Hang a strand of white lights around the room to create a fairytale look. Hang posters of her favorite movie star or bands. Allow your daughter to express her individuality as she decorates.
