Faux Fur Sewing Instructions
Fur is a lush and comfortable fabric that gives an outfit a bit of sophistication. However, authentic fur is expensive and hard to find. In addition to this, many people have a moral objection to using authentic fur. Fortunately, faux fur is less expensive than real fur and can be found in any fabric store. It may seem hard to sew with faux fur since it has two layers, but it is actually not as hard as it seems. With common sewing supplies and proper techniques, any seamstress can sew faux fur with ease.

1
Part the fur using a fine-toothed comb where it needs to be cut. Cut along the part using a razor knife, making sure to cut only the backing of the fur and not the fur itself.
-
2
Use a small razor to shave the fur off of the edges where the fabric is to be sewn. Shave about 1 inch in from the edge.

-
3
Shake the fur pieces outside to get rid of any excess fur. Pin the pieces together with the pins vertical. Pin about every 2 inches.
-
4
Sew along the edges, sewing with the grain of the pile of the fur. Use a chopstick to pick out any fur that may have been sewn into the seams.
