A good New Orleans bloody mary is hard to pass up. Stuffing it with a few traditional spicy green beans, pickled okra and some olives can turn any boring bloody mary into a true party cocktail. Pickled cocktail onions, pickles, lime and lemon wedges can be added for even more variety. This bloody mary recipe can be zipped up by adding more spice to turn up the heat. This recipe can be adapted to suit any particular taste and can be the perfect hangover drink. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup vodka
  • 4-1/2 cups chilled tomato juice
  • 2 tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 to 6 dashes Tabasco hot sauce
  • Celery salt and black pepper
  • Ice
  • Celery stalks
  • Lime slices

Instructions

  1. Combining the Ingredients

    • 1

      Combine vodka, chilled tomato juice, lime juice and Worcestershire sauce in a pitcher. Mix thoroughly. Season with Tabasco sauce and celery salt and pepper to taste.

      Rim a glass with lime juice, and dip glass in black pepper. Fill glasses with ice.

      Fill glasses with bloody mary mix. Add celery, stuffed olives, spiced greens beans, lime slices, pickled vegetables or other condiments. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • For a milder version of the New Orleans bloody mary, omit pepper on glass rims, or

  • use less Tabasco in the bloody mary mix.

  • Try ham or salami cubes on a swizzle stick to add interest to condiments stuffed in the bloody mary.

  • Use Tabasco sauce sparingly when first preparing the mix. You can always add more later.

  • Wash hands after handling anything spicy and avoid contact with eyes.
