1
Thread a length of twine or rope onto a large-eye blunt needle. Pass the needle through 20 beads in your choice of colors and push the beads down toward the ball of twine or rope.
-
2
Remove the large-eye blunt needle and attach the twine to your crochet hook with a slipknot. Leave a 6-inch tail hanging down off the end of the twine before the slipknot.
-
-
3
Hold the twine in your left hand and bring it up and over the crochet hook from back to front. Catch the twine with the hook and pull it through the slipknot on the hook. Now you have made one chain stitch.
-
4
Slide the first bead up next to the hook and make another chain stitch around the bead. Make another chain stitch without a bead. Alternate regular and beaded chain stitches until you run out of beads, ending with a regular chain stitch.
-
5
Make five more chain stitches at the end of the necklace. Join with a slip stitch to the last chain stitch of the necklace itself in order to form a loop. Fasten off and cut your twine.
-
6
Use your large-eye blunt needle or an embroidery needle to sew a button onto the other end of your necklace. Use your tail of twine to sew it on. This will be the closure for your necklace, along with the loop you made on the other side.
