How to Change Nameservers on a Computer

How to Change Nameservers on a Computer thumbnail
You can easily change your computer's Domain Nameserver information.

When you enter the URL of a website into your browser and click the "Go" button, your browser refers to a DNS (Domain Name Service, also known as a Domain Nameserver) server for a translation of that URL into its associated IP address. While many computers are set up by default to automatically acquire their DNS servers from the ISP, you can manually change your DNS server information if needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button, open the "Control Panel" and then open the "Network Connections" section.

    • 2

Right-click on the network connection that you are using and select "Properties."

    • 3

Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the settings list and then click the "Settings" button.

    • 4

Select "Use the following DNS server addresses:" and then enter two DNS server addresses. Click "OK" two times to apply the settings and your DNS settings are changed.
