How to Set a Bally Fitness Pedometer
Bally Fitness Thin Q Pocket Pedometer is a tool that measures the amount of steps that you take in a day. Though it is sold by Bally Fitness, the manufacturer is Sportline who licenses the pedometer to Bally for distribution through their website. It is moderately easy to setup your pedometer for use.

Decide between miles and kilometers as a unit of measurement. If it is already set, skip to stride length.

Hit the Mode button until you reach the Distance Mode. Either "MIL" or "KM" will appear on the display.

Press and hold the Reset button (S1) until the display changes over to the system you want to work with be it miles or kilometers.

Input your stride length. To measure this, walk ten steps and measure the distance by heel to toe or toe to heel. Divide the distance covered by the amount of steps taken. For example if you walked 360 inches and took 10 steps, your stride length would be 36 inches.

Input your weight in order for the pedometer to accurately measure your calories burned. Press the Mode button (S4) until KCAL appears on the display. Press S3 until "Lb" or "Kg" flashes on the screen. Press Reset (S1) to increase the pounds or kilograms until you reach your weight.

Set the time by pressing S4 until the clock is displayed. Press S4 again to toggle between 12 hours and 24 hours. Press S3 for hour, then S1 until you reach the desired hour. Press Set to finish setting the hour.

Toggle the S4 button to enter the step-counting mode.

Put the pedometer in your pocket.

Start walking. The first five steps are not counted to prevent false counts.

Tips & Warnings
If you need to order the instruction manual, check the manufacturer on your pedometer and visit their website. There is usually an instruction manual available for download or a quick email to the company will usually get them to send it to you.
Do not tilt the pedometer in your pocket. It could affect the accuracy of the reading.
