How to Track Cookie Spyware
Cookies are files that are associated with your Web browser. These files store information on your computer so that certain websites will load as fast as possible the next time you visit them. Sometimes malicious Internet users will hide spyware and other types of malware inside cookies. These can track your activities online. If you want to turn the tables on your would-be pursuer and find out of there are any spyware cookies on your computer, you can do so using a number of freeware utilities designed for this purpose.

1
Use AVG Free. AVG Free is a program that can scan your computer's hard drive for viruses, spyware and adware. If any spyware cookies have made it onto your computer from the Internet, AVG Free will be able to tell you. Simply launch the AVG Free software and click the button that allows you to perform a "full system scan." Once the scan is complete, any spyware cookies will have been tracked down and will be listed on screen.

2
Use Spybot: Search and Destroy. Unlike AVG Free, Spybot is a program that is just aimed at tracking different types of spyware on your computer. If a spyware cookie has reared its ugly head, Spybot will be able to identify it and get to the root of the problem. As with AVG Free, launch the Spybot software and then perform a full system scan. The results page will indicate if there are any spyware cookies on your hard drive.
