How to Crochet an Easy Edging on a Lace Scarf
A lace scarf is beautiful, but you can make it even more eye-catching by crocheting an easy edging, then sewing it on. Because the scarf is such a light, delicate accessory, you need to find an edging that complements the look and laciness of your scarf. A scallop edging is deceptively lacy but very simple, consisting of a single crochet edge with repeating scallops consisting of triple crochet clusters and chains. Make sure to block the edging before sewing it onto your scarf.

Use a steel hook and crochet thread to make an edging. Make a foundation chain that is slightly longer than the length you need for the scarf. Crochet a multiple of six chains plus two extra chain stitches.

Crocheted edgings add pizzazz to accessories. Make one single crochet in the second chain from your hook, then one single crochet in each remaining chain. (This is Row 1, wrong side.) Turn your work.

Your crocheted edging can be simple or ornate. Chain four; then, leaving the last loop of each triple crochet on your hook, work two triple crochet stitches in the first single crochet of Row 1, yarn over and draw a loop through all three loops on your hook.
