      Connect the USB end of your portable hard drive or flash drive into an available USB port on your computer.

      Navigate to the folder containing the digital pictures that you want to transfer.

      Copy the pictures you wish to transfer by selecting them by clicking and dragging around the files. Next, right-click on the selection and select "Copy" from the resulting menu.

      Navigate to "My Computer" to access the USB flash drive or portable hard drive directly. Click on the icon associated with the drive. Some computers may autoplay the USB drive once it has been plugged in. You can access the drive this way by selecting the "Open folder to view files" option.

      Right click in the folder that appears and click "Paste" to begin the transfer process. Once the transfer has completed, be sure to eject the USB flash drive before removing it from your computer.
